Description
This course teaches the individual and team skill sets of the Tracker and each individual will be evaluated and rated amongst their peers. This course is designed to build upon existing tracking experience and teaches advanced techniques as tracking applies to border ops, search and rescue, fugitive recovery, intelligence collection, anti poaching/anti dumping, and recovery of highly evasive individuals who seek escape and refuge in our nation’s wild lands.

Tactical Tracking Course Equipment List

Lodging: No tactical bivouac , agency arranged
Vehicles: Not required, UTV, SXS, HORSES, MULES, permitted
Required Equipment
- Ball cap or Boonie hat
- Sturdy boots or trail shoes suitable for uneven terrain
- Weather-appropriate field clothing (earth-tone colors recommended)
- Long pants / bush shorts / Camo kit to test out and break in
- Lightweight long-sleeve shirt
- Rain jacket (if weather dictates)
- Daypack or small patrol pack
- Minimum 2 liters of water (hydration bladder or water bottles)
- Lunch and personal snacks for both training days
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Measuring tape
- Note-taking materials (notebook and pen/pencil)
- Small flashlight or headlamp with green, blue, red, white
Recommended Equipment
- Binoculars (8×42 or 10×42 preferred) tripod recommended with optic mount
- Gloves
- Multi-tool or folding knife
- Small individual first aid kit (IFAK)
- Trekking pole (optional)
- Small packable chair
- Extra socks
- Electrolyte packets
- Camera or smartphone for reference photos (when authorized)

- Serviceable rifle (zeroed prior to arrival)
- 30 rounds of rifle ammunition
